While we love a good, all-white kitchen as much as the next blog, there’s something about a little unexpected bright color, an earthy texture, or some quirky accessorizing that stands out from the pack of conventionally beautiful designs. In the same carefree, adventurous spirit as the summer season, these 10 designs feature a warm, inviting cheer courtesy of their vibrant florals, dusty solids, rustic finishes, energizing accents, and even a vegetable metaphor or two. We can only imagine the pleasure of cooking in any of these summery rooms year-round.
The favorite thing about my home: I love that I get to use all of it even though it is quite a large flat. The top room where I have the kitchen, dining room and study is where I spend most of my day working. My bedroom is where I sleep and laze in the morning and my drawing room doubles up into a home cinema (except that I have broken my projector but I will be buying one soon) and it is where I spend my evenings when I am not out with friends. And when I have friends over, we have a drink in the drawing room before moving upstairs for the meal.
The cost included new wood cabinets to match some of the existing ones; replacing the old wood floors with reclaimed Douglas fir that we sourced from Craigslist; a new Viking range; adding a hood and exterior vent and gas line; new lighting; painting all the walls, cabinets and trim; new butcher block counters; a new subway tile backsplash to the ceiling; cabinet hardware; a custom built-in pantry; and a custom Carrera marble breakfast table.
